A Very Rewarding Few Months!
Wednesday, 7th August, 2013
At Prashad, we never rest on our laurels! We’re always striving to get better and better and that is reflected in us consistently winning awards and accolades and receiving excellent reviews from the foodie world in Yorkshire and beyond.
Over the past few months, we’ve had a flurry of award wins including the Morrisons Magazine Great Grub Award, a nationwide competition to find Britain’s best local eateries. The taste testers gave us 10/10 for quality of food and high praise for the restaurant saying: “This is authentic Gujarati cooking at its best. Service was attentive without being invasive and the staff were knowledgeable about the dishes and ingredients.”
We were also given a Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor and were one of 50 Indian/Bangladeshi/Pakistani/Sri Lankan/Nepalese restaurants nationally to be given a ‘Best in Britain Award’ by Mood Food Magazine and the Federation of Specialist Restaurants.
Following our fantastic 5* review in the Yorkshire Evening Post, we were delighted with the Huddersfield Examiner’s restaurant review, which said: “The lack of meat is irrelevant once you taste the food. It’s frankly awe-inspiring how much variety you can whip up without using a single bit of meat. This is the taste of ‘Real India’ and there’s nothing else like it round here. If that’s not enough to convince you then note this. They sell decent real ale, do signature cocktails with or without booze, and most of the mains are under a tenner. It’s no surprise the chefs have stated their ambition is to become Michelin starred. If I was you I’d get down there as soon as…”
Sharing our cooking secrets
Kaushy and Bobby have also been incredibly busy doing cooking demos at Yorkshire food and drink festivals including Tastes of Yorkshire Festival, Halifax Food & Drink Festival and the World Curry Festival. We pulled in some great crowds and had some fantastic feedback as well as getting the chance to work alongside Michelin Star chefs like Stephanie Moon.
The latest round of sell-out Prashad cooking courses at The Cooking School in Dean Clough Mills in Halifax also went down a storm again!
Did you know?
We have private dining facilities at the restaurant to cater for parties of up to 40 or more intimate gatherings of 12 and can provide big screen facilities for business meetings or sporting events. You can also take away our food to enjoy at home!
In other news
In other news, after a successful series of joint beer and curry tasting events, we’ve partnered with The Sparrow Bier Café in Bradford for International India Pale Ale Day where we served street food alongside a selection of beers. We also had a visit from The Curry Guy who was visiting from the US and dropped in to learn from Minal how to make the perfect Dosa. Building on our partnerships with local sports teams, we won a raffle to be the lead sponsor of Drighlington Rugby Club. Finally, our cookbook is going down a storm with The Book People (which goes into businesses to sell best-selling titles at great prices). Look out for flyers giving The Book People customers a special offer in the restaurant!
