Prashad launches #CommunityChaat: Supporting our community through Covid-19
Help us make a difference during the lockdown
We need to chaat (please excuse the pun)! We’re all feeling the effects of Covid-19. We miss our families, our friends and loved ones. We miss the freedom to mingle and enjoy the sunshine with a curry and a beer – the end of lockdown can’t come quick enough!
But for many people, the consequences of this pandemic are far more severe than skipping a birthday party, family meal out or trip to see the grandparents.
Our dedicated NHS staff are worked to the bone, trying to fight this virus and save lives – often at the expense of their own health and wellbeing. The pressure is being felt in care homes across the country and on the key workers providing home care services to the elderly and vulnerable. Many vital services for those who are homeless have had to close their doors because they simply don’t have the funding and resources to meet demand.
School’s out but kitchens remain open as struggling parents find it difficult to feed their children. And while there are many volunteers already working to take some of the pressure off and donate food, toiletries and offer their support to those most in need, there’s always more to be done.
Introducing #CommunityChaat
It’s easy to feel powerless, stuck at home absorbing all the bad news on television and on social media – but there’s a way we can all help from a distance!
Prashad are launching our #CommunityChaat fundraising campaign to help those who need it most. Together we can do our part and make a difference.
How it works
Every time you order from Prashad, you’ll have the opportunity to donate to the #CommunityChaat money pot. This pay-it-forward style scheme will help us feed the most vulnerable in our local communities – from those on the streets, to struggling families.
Your donations will also go towards feeding the hard-working NHS heroes, devoted carers and anyone else who’s been working tirelessly to keep our country running through this pandemic.
While we’re busy in the kitchen, we need you to get busy online! Help us identify the most deserving or the most in need so that we can quickly deliver a hot, wholesome curry to those who would benefit the most.

How to nominate
Social media has helped many of us stay connected with family and friends through the lockdown. Now we want to use it to make new connections. It’s easy to help us identify those most in need – just start chatting!
We’ll be posting weekly updates on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, so you can see how your contributions have helped. When you see these posts, share them. Tag people you think this would help in the comments or share with anyone you know that has ties to groups, organisations or individuals who need support.
Tag us in other posts and use #CommunityChaat to spread the word. All we really need is a name and means of contact, and we can take it from there.
#CommunityChaat in four easy steps
- Donate – every time you order, you’ll be able to pay it forward.
- Nominate – start the conversation online to help us find those most in need.
- Initiate – We’ll take your suggestions, cook and deliver to those you’ve nominated.
- Celebrate – Keep an eye on social media to see who your donation has helped!
We’ll be asking for your suggestions every week, so please check back on our social profiles if you wish to nominate anyone!
Thank you for your support
